IT Service Technician Program For Newcomers
Program Overview
Solomon College’s IT Service Technician Program for Newcomers aims to support unemployed and underemployed Permanent Residents, and Naturalized Canadian Citizens to reskill or upskill in order to pursue positions in the IT sector. Our 5-month training program will teach students the knowledge, and skills needed for entry-level positions in various IT settings. The program will include IT skills development in CompTIA A+ and Google AI Essentials, English Communications skills for IT, and many more skills they will need in various IT work environments.
Applicant Eligibility
To be eligible for the IT Service Technician Program for Newcomers, you must:
- Be one of the following:
- a Permanent Resident of Canada
- a Convention Refugee
- Naturalized Canadian Citizen (not born in Canada)
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 or higher in listening, speaking, reading, and writing
- Have previous work experience in the IT field in their home country
- Pass a written test regarding basic IT knowledge
- Optional: Class 5 Driver license in Alberta is an asset

- Residency Document
- Provide one of the following indicating CLB 5 or higher in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing
- Copy of LINC Certificate of Completion
- CLB assessment from LARCC
