Ping Ping Lee — Program Director, All Programs 

Education:B.A. English, B. Ed (Adult Education), Diploma in Adult Education (ESL), M.A. Comparative Literature

Ping Ping has been in the ESL field for over 20 years.  Ping Ping enjoys the multi-cultural environment of Solomon College. She values the sense of community in the school and the way everyone helps each other achieve their goals.

Ben Lau — General Manager 

Education: B. Mgt. (Adv. Accounting)

Ben has been working for Solomon College since January 1999.  He worked for Statistics Canada and the University of Alberta before he was employed by Solomon College.  He likes dealing with numbers and computers.

Jill Lang — Program Coordinator, Hospitality Management

Jill has worked at Solomon College for the past year. Previously she worked in the non-profit sector and at the University of Alberta. She appreciates the inclusive and welcoming environment at Solomon College and enjoys working with both the students and staff members.

Julie has been an Esl instructor at Solomon College for the last 2 years. She is married and has 2 sons. She loves teaching, reading in her spare time and travelling with her family whenever she can.

David is pleased to offer AHLEI course training in Hospitality Management and he is proud to work at Solomon College.  Meeting and providing a quality education to international students is a pleasure.  David really enjoys being involved with students from diverse backgrounds.

To be inclusive is to be student focused. Therefore, it is my belief that face-to-face, blended, and online classroom methods of teaching must shift focus from lectures to active learning. For that reason, my learning philosophy combines constructivism with experiential learning. 


Gloria Ho—LINC Instrcutor

Education: B.Des, TESL/TEFL Certification

Before working at Solomon, Gloria spent a year teaching English in South Korea. She enjoyed working abroad and participating in ESL/EFL training sessions. She also worked with a women’s literacy program in Nepal, developing classroom materials and lesson plans for Nepali and English classes alongside local teachers. For Gloria, working with adult learners in Canada is a pleasure. She admires her students for their hard work and determination.

Justin Mikkelsen - LINC Instructor

Education: B.Ed

Justin first taught English in Vietnam where he spent spent a year and a half working with students of all ages and fluency levels. After completing his undergraduate education, he worked in numerous volunteer roles teaching English to newcomers in Edmonton. Justin is currently working towards completing his Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and teaches a class of intermediate students at Solomon College. Outside of class time, Justin is an avid traveler and cyclist.

Shannon Delaney — LINC Instructor


Shannon Delaney joined the Solomon College family in January 2017 and is pleased to be instructing CLB 5.  Prior to moving to Alberta, Shannon received her TESL certification in Victoria, BC where she had the privilege of teaching recent newcomers at the Victoria Immigration and Refugee Centre.  Shannon aims to make language learning accessible and interactive with a focus on building confidence beyond the classroom. 

Raelene Poulin - LINC Instructor

Education: B.Ed

My name is Raelene and I have taught Saturday LINC4 classes for the last two years. I come with over 20 years of experience in the Education field teaching: Early Childhood classes to High School, College English, Job Search classes, workshops on Mental Health and a range of courses such as French Immersion, French as a Second Language, Drama, Music, Early Literacy Intervention and Phys Ed. You could almost say that I’ve taught it all!  My passion is learning and teaching. My students definitely keep my interest in the field alive!

Kristine Paquin — LINC Instructor

My name is Kristine and I have a Bachelor of Education.  I enjoy traveling and have had the pleasure of living in different countries around the world.  Teaching English is a true passion of mine.

Sumana Barua - ESL Instructor

Sumana has taught ESL for about 12 years in Calgary, - at YWCA, Bow Valley College, and Maple Leaf Academy. She has taught TOEFL as well as LINC. She was a PBLA Lead Teacher at the LINC program. As the Executive Director of TESL Canada, Sumana tirelessly worked to raise the image and value of the ESL profession in the country. Sumana has a Master degree in English and TESL certification from University of Saskatchewan. She has also received permanent professional certification from TESL Canada. She enjoys travelling and has travelled extensively in France, Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium. She has lived in Thailand, Oman and Dubai and has taught there. Sumana has received the Distinguished Toastmaster Award from Toastmasters International, the highest award that the organization bestows for superior level of communication and leadership. Sumana speaks five languages fluently.  She has recently moved with her husband from Calgary to Edmonton and is enjoying teaching at Solomon College.
